Frequently Asked Questions

How is 180DC different from other consulting groups?

We exclusively work with non-profits and social enterprises.

We are a small, tight-knit group of impact-driven individuals; we only work with organizations that want to create social impact.

Consultant training is done through hands-on client work with non-profits and social enterprises, monthly workshops, and other forms of professional development.

Are certain majors preferred in the recruiting process?

No - we are open to all majors and backgrounds!

A great aspect of 180DC is our ability to host opportunities beyond a consulting career. If you are interested in technology, engineering, healthcare, sustainability/global development, investment banking, venture capital, nonprofit work or start-ups, you’ve found the right place to develop your career skills - there’s something for everyone in 180DC.

We’re proud to have member representation from all of Tufts’ undergraduate schools - the School of Arts of Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

Is consulting experience needed to apply to 180DC?

No prior consulting experience is required.

We’re seeking hardworking individuals who have a balance of qualitative and quantitative skills. Individuals who are passionate about social impact are a perfect fit for 180DC, even if they are not sure about consulting as a potential career.

How many new members are recruited each semester?

With every semester, our member needs change as seniors graduate and members go abroad. We do not employ quotas.

Historically, we receive a large volume of applications each semester.

When does recruiting occur?

We recruit new members at the beginning of both the Fall (September) and Spring (January) Semesters. If you’d like to receive updates on the recruiting process, please reach out to Andrew Hwang (Director of Recruiting and Communications) via email at andrew.hwang616417@tufts.edu.
